Queer Book Club

The Queer Book Club typically meets the last Saturday of every month at Gail Borden Public Libary. However, with the shutdowns, May's meeting will be held virtually.  If you would like to participate, please send an email to ELGbtq@gmail.com with the subject "Book Club," and a link will be sent out closer to time.

The Angel of History tells the story of Jacob, a gay, Yemeni-born poet living in San Francisco, as he waits to check into a mental health facility sometime in the present day. The novel is framed around the single night he spends in the waiting room.

Tips for Obtaining Books:

If you do not wish to purchase the book of the month, first--check our local library!  Gail Borden Public Library has many of the books we cover.  If there are no copies available in stock, you can either:
1) Check the
Hoopla app!  It is free to use if you have a library card with Gail Borden, and features many free audio books and ebooks. Or

2) Submit a material request form from Gail Borden!  Make sure you mention that it's for a Book Club in the "Additional Information" field, so they get the materials asap! You can submit a material request form here.
